It’s not summer until you hit the beach. In this edition we highlight three big names that have made their mark with a beachy lifestyle. Sun, sand and surf require great sunglasses and our Bold Face names have them in spades…

Bethany Hamilton secured her first major surfing sponsorships by age nine and was well on her way to a successful professional surfing career by puberty. The now 21-year-old could have been sidelined in 2003 at age 13 when she lost her left arm in a shark attack. Nonetheless, Hamilton has gone on to pursue a professional surfing career and in 2005, she took 1st place in the National Scholastic Surfing Association National Championships. In 2008, she began competing full-time on the Association of Surfing Professionals World Qualifying Series and has finished top three in at least three international surfing competitions. She wrote a biography based upon the attack which was turned into the Hollywood biopic “Soul Surfer.” The movie, starring Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Craig T. Nelson and Carrie Underwood, was released in April and in the movie she performs all the surfing stunts for her character. Still a competitive surfer, Hamilton is always in need of a good pair of sunglasses and that’s where these Nautica N6048S sunnies from Marchon come in…

Actress Kate Bosworth had her breakout role in 2002's “Blue Crush,” a surfer film that tells the story of three friends whose passion is living the ultimate dream of surfing on Hawaii's famed North Shore. The actress has since gone on to success in both movies and fashion but there are fans who will always remember as Anne Marie in the original “Blue Crush.” The movie’s sequel “Blue Crush 2” with an all new set of characters is set to go straight to DVD on June 7 proving it is likely hard to match the success for the original. Speaking of originals, clearly Ms. Bosworth has an affinity for them as well as she rocks the Celine Original sunglasses distributed by MARR International with her beachy blond hair in this pic…

When you think of Sammy Hagar you can’t help but think of a tequila-soaked, beach lifestyle. The well-known musician is the founder of the Cabo Wabo Tequila brand and restaurant chain and he splits his time between a sunny existence in Mill Valley, California and the sandy beaches of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. A sun-drenched lifestyle like his requires some serious sunwear. For that, Sammy and his wife Kari turn to celebrity eyewear stylist and CEO of San Francisco Optics, Alex Feldman and his Alexander Daas eyewear collection. Sammy wears model Eye Do II while Kari opts for the Eye Do to protect their eyes from the bright Cali sun.
