Diane von Furstenberg collaborated with Sergey Brin,
Google co-founder, on a project titled DVF Through Glass, which included the designer using the company’s internet-enabled, augmented reality (AR) Glass to capture the DVF creative process for the week leading up to her Spring 2013 fashion show and culminated in the Glass walking down the runway on several models. At the end of the show, von Furstenberg and Brin walked the runway both wearing the eyewear.
“I am so excited to introduce Glass to the fashion world and use this revolutionary technology to give everyone a unique perspective into fashion,” said von Furstenberg.
A short film of the footage captures during the week was released on Sept. 13 on the
DVF Google+ page and Google’s
YouTube channel which gives the public a glimpse into the designer’s design and preparation process, as well as the ability to experience the DVF show at New York Fashion Week through von Furstenberg’s and other’s eyes. Exclusive images from Glass were also posted to the DVF Google+ page live during the show and can be found using the #DVFthroughGlass.
“Beauty, style and comfort are as important to Glass as the latest technology,” added Brin. “We are delighted to bring Glass to the runway together with DVF.”
Vision Monday has previously reported on Google Glass, a beta version of which can be pre-ordered now for $1,500 for delivery sometime next year, on
