SAN ANTONIO—In an organizational announcement, San Antonio-based Eye Care Centers of America (ECCA) said it has brought its ophthalmic lenses and contact lens business operations under the watch of the company’s merchandising and sales development area, headed by ECCA VP Kelly Carter, who joined the company in August 2009.

“We are delighted with the contributions that Kelly has made during his short tenure with the company,” said George Gebhardt, ECCA’s chief merchandising officer. “We believe our organizational changes will strengthen the overall efforts of the merchandising team and look forward to this new group driving the business.”

In other merchandising news, Joseph Plott has been promoted from senior product manager of ophthalmic lenses and contact lenses to director of merchandising of the same categories. Amy Johnson has been promoted to senior product manager of frames and accessories. She previously was product manager of import frames. Reporting to her are product managers Jamiselle Palacios and Alison Guerero.

Plott has been with ECCA for nearly six years, and Johnson has been with the company for more than five years. Both will report to Carter. Rounding out Carter’s staff is Susan Watson, product manager of assortment planning. She will also drive the frame assortment planning process for Davis Vision, the managed vision care division of HVHC, Inc.
