JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Last week, Vistakon, the contact lens division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care (NYSE: JNJ), kicked off a new consumer-oriented radio program "devoted to educating and improving the eye health of Americans," according to the company.

The new program, which launched June 15, is called "Healthy Vision with Dr. Val Jones." Jones—an MD who is an author and chief executive officer of Better Health, a network of health bloggers—hosts the program, interviewing various vision-care experts during the 23-minute show. The program is sponsored by Vistakon's Acuvue contact lenses.

The first program highlights three segments: "What's in an Eye Exam?", "Are You Contact Lens Compliant?" and "Protecting Your Eyes from the Sun."

A Vistakon spokesperson told VMail current plans call for producing four new "Healthy Vision" programs a year, with the second in the series expected to be available by early September. Initially, programs will be pre-recorded, but the spokesperson said the company would like to begin live broadcasts by year-end.

The programs are also available for eyecare professionals to download to send to their patients, or to post on their practices' websites, he noted.

Free podcasts of "Healthy Vision with Dr. Val Jones" can be found in the iTunes Store (search for the show by its complete title in LifeMinute.TV Health), on BlogTalk Radio and on getbetterhealth.com/healthy-vision.
