Luxottica to Expand N3L Optics ‘Sports Performance’ Concept, as Retail Customer Satisfaction Grows

October 30, 2008 12:24 AM
MILAN—Luxottica Group’s (NYSE: LUX) newest retail concept, the N3L Optics “sports performance” sunwear specialty prototype it launched this spring, has been “proved successful and ready for roll-out,” the company said in conjunction with its third-quarter financial conference call this week.

During the Oct. 28 call with financial analysts, Kerry Bradley, chief operating officer of Luxottica Retail, said the second N3L Optics store is scheduled to open Nov. 4; a third location is due by Thanksgiving, he noted. The first N3L Optics unit was opened by Luxottica’s Oakley subsidiary in May near Denver; the retail concept includes various interactive features for sunwear customers, along with new “virtual try-on” technology.

In material released along with its Q3 financials, Luxottica also said its retail consumer satisfaction scores were “up across all brands,” with 87 percent of LensCrafters’ customers indicating they were likely to return to the chain (up from 85 percent in previous surveys) and 81 percent of Sunglass Hut’s customers approving their overall experience there (up from 76 percent).
