Oliver Peoples Announces Eyewear Collaboration With Balmain for 2010

February 1, 2010 12:24 AM
LOS ANGELES—Oliver Peoples has collaborated with luxury fashion house Balmain for the brand’s first eyewear designs, two limited-edition sunglass styles to be introduced in Spring 2010.

Under the leadership of designer Christophe Decarnin, Balmain is known for a signature aesthetic, mixing high-energy Parisian style with a strong silhouette, which has moved the prestigious French couture house in a bolder, more contemporary direction.

“The collaboration with Christophe and his team felt completely natural,” said Larry Leight, founder and creative director of Oliver Peoples. “The brands make sense together from a design standpoint in that both maintain an aspirational position and value a premium level of quality. Those who want the best in runway turn to Balmain, and those who want the best in eyewear turn to Oliver Peoples.”

Consistent with the Balmain’s 2010 collections, the two unisex sunglass styles are bold statements with sleek and modern design elements. The first style will be in stores March/April 2010 with the second to follow later in the year.
