IDOC Group Plans Educational Series, Plus Annual Meeting Set for April 9 to 11

March 8, 2010 12:24 AM
NORWALK, Conn.—Independent Doctors of Optometric Care (IDOC), has been focusing its information-exchange, preferred group discounts, member benefits and educational offerings in the areas of business development and management advice to enable independent doctors of optometry to better compete, according to IDOC's president and CEO, Mark Feder, OD.

IDOC is putting on a series of special educational events this month around the country. These IDOC University sessions enable member doctors to earn complimentary COPE credits. Among them are a lecture by GPN's Jay Binkowitz on March 10 in Winston-Salem, N.C., "A Forensic Study to Assist You in Understanding Your Profitability," as well as a March 19 luncheon, sponsored by CIBA Vision, at Vision Expo East featuring Roy Kline, OD, on "Safety & Success with Silicone Hydrogel Continuous Wear Lenses." Other sessions are set for Tampa, Fla. on March 23, Orlando on March 24 and Atlanta on March 25.

IDOC is also inviting optometrists to its enhanced "CEO" oriented program for the IDOC annual meeting April 9 to 11 at Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino in Uncasville, Conn, offering five of the industry's top business development speakers in one location featuring more than 13 hours of mostly COPE-approved CE and special workshops and staff training. Binkowtiz will lecture on "A Forensic Study to Assist in Understanding Your Profitability," followed by a cocktail reception.

On Saturday, attendees will hear Neil Gailmard, OD lecture on "Become the CEO of Your Practice: Manage the People, Process and Expense," and then attend a range of workshops. Saturday's program includes John Rumpakis' OD, lecture on "Cracking the Code: Advanced Coding Concepts & Updates 2010" and Scott Morris’, OD lecture on "An Overview of Electronic Health Records," both COPE sessions, with other time set aside for doctors and staff training.

Registration details, along with IDOC membership benefits, newsletter archives and other information is available on the new IDOC Web site, www.idoc.net.
