GLEN COVE, N.Y.—Industry colleagues turned out for a day of bright sun and sparkling links—the golf course at Nassau Country Club here—for a day-and-evening event to raise awareness and funds for the Essilor Vision Foundation and its work to provide vision exams and eyeglasses to needy schoolchildren around the country.

The Focus Eye Health and Vision Care staff came out in force to salute Berman.

Berman received his award from Audrey Reed, executive director of the Essilor Vision Foundation.

The event brought out industry participants and supporters from the New York area along with key Essilor Vision Foundation executives and others, to the north shore of Long Island where the charity event included a day of golf in the Liberty Mutual Invitational, as well as a silent auction and raffle. Event sponsors included Essilor and Transitions.
The occasion also shined the spotlight on its 2010 honoree, New Jersey optometrist, Paul Berman, OD, who was honored for his “outstanding dedication and support of healthy vision” through his extensive volunteer involvement in many vision-related causes including his role as founder of Special Olympics Lions Club International Opening Eyes.
Berman, who owns Focus Eye Health and Vision Care in Hackensack, N.J. with his associate Matt Esperon, OD, is also on the board of Optometry’s Charity—the AOA Foundation. He is also the co-founder of Healthy Athletes, a program dedicated to improving health care for persons with intellectual disabilities.
