Bold Face explores the cult of celebrity and the styles, trends and brands that stars show off in movies, at events and living their daily lives. To be considered for inclusion please contact senior editor, Deirdre Carroll.

With the 83rd Annual Academy Awards just weeks away, everybody, including Bold Face, has their eyes on the prize. In our latest edition we highlight the frames of a few past winners, one of which is nominated again this year!

Jeff Bridges had been nominated for an Oscar four times before his 2010 win for 2009’s “Crazy Heart” at the 82nd Academy Awards. Now only a year has passed and he has been nominated a sixth time for his role in the American western, “True Grit.” Directed by the Coen Brothers, “True Grit” is a contender for the highest grossing western movie of all time and is also nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year. ‘The Dude” looks incredibly dapper here in his tuxedo and Lacoste L119S sunglasses from Marchon. We know consecutive wins at the Oscar’s are rare and special but Bold Face wishes this ‘fabulous Baker boy’ the best of luck in snagging his second consecutive gold statue…

Marisa Tomei received her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1992 for her role in the comedy “My Cousin Vinny.” She subsequently won the Academy Award that year and has been nominated twice more since in the same category, most recently for 2008’s “The Wrestler.” She is four films in various states of production for 2011, so it is totally possible we may see Ms. Tomei gracing award show red carpets one day again soon. Until then we will have to content ourselves with paparazzi shots like this one, where she was spotted wearing the Modo 3012 ophthalmic frames in bark en route to something fabulous no doubt…

Elton John won his Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from Disney’s 1994 film, “The Lion King.” Perhaps his luck will hold and he will receive another Oscar nomination in 2012 for his work on “Gnomeo and Juliet” out in theaters this week. John appeared on the Feb. 10 airing of NBC’s “Today Show” with host Matt Lauer wearing the l.a. eyeworks Wood Dub eyeglasses in Toy Blue to discuss his recent fatherhood and to promote his original music for the new animated feature. He even has a cameo in the cartoon as a sparkly, be speckled, piano-playing gnome…

After four previous nominations, Susan Sarandon finally won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1995 for her performance in “Dead Man Walking.” Still very much a working actress, Sarandon appeared in last year‘s “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” and the Jack Kevorkian bio-pic “You Don’t Know Jack” with Al Pacino. This year she stars in the comedy “Jeff Who Lives at Home” with Jason Segel and will also be filming the drama/thriller “Arbitrage” with Richard Gere. When not working, Sarandon can be found at SPiN New York, a table tennis social club in NYC where she is an owner. Here she is a still from a promotional video for the club wearing the Ørgreen Bianca 149 sunglasses.
