Corporate ODs Tackle Teamwork, Growth Strategies

LAS VEGAS—“Building teamwork begins with you,” Trudi Charest of Total Focus Consulting told more than 50 leaders of corporate optometry at the advisory panel meeting of Corporate Optometry Reports (COR) here on Sept. 26 during Vision Expo West. Charest used analogies to sports teams in describing ways that retail eyecare businesses can create a playbook with rules and standards for teamwork. Charest was keynote speaker and one of six presenters at the COR Advisory Panel Meeting. COR is sponsored by Alcon, and the event was hosted by Dwight Akerman, OD, director of professional programs for Alcon. Other speakers included Jim Murphy, VP and general manager of Alcon’s U.S. Vision Care Division; Alcon’s Kellan Barfield, manager of global performance development; Marge Axelrad, senior VP and editorial director of Vision Monday; John Rumpakis, OD, MBA; and Ronald L. Hopping, OD, AOA president-elect.
