Local Eye Site Expands With New International Partnerships

October 31, 2011 12:21 AM

RALEIGH, N.C.— Local Eye Site (LES), the online employment community for eyecare professionals, has signed two new agreements which will expand the recruitment site’s activities into the international vision care community.

In Australia, LES has partnered with Insight, the leading optical industry news publication. For 36 years, Insight has been a respected voice of the industry bringing in-depth news and analysis to its readers. Stated Neil Forbes, editor and publisher of Insight, “We at Insight are looking forward to working with Local Eye Site to develop the Insight Jobs employment system for the Australian market. It has proven to be a winner in the U.S., and we are confident it will be here, too. Local Eye Sight is a professional organization staffed by knowledgeable people, whom we greatly respect.” The LES/Insight partnership is active now.

In addition, LES just signed an agreement with the Canadian Society of Ophthalmic Medical Personnel (CSOMP). They represent all allied health personnel in ophthalmology working in Canada, primarily ophthalmic technicians. CSOMP is supported by the COS (Canadian Ophthalmological Society). CSOMP is also part of a consortium of American associations (ATPO, JCAHPO, OPS, ASORN and ASOA) that have come together to produce online continuing education for ophthalmic medical personnel, called ACTIONed, as reported Local Eye Site has already-established partnerships with ATPO, JCAHPO and ASORN.

“I’m very pleased and excited that CSOMP has entered into a partnership with LES,” said CSOMP president, Marc D. Lafontaine, COMT. “This alliance will provide a technologically superior venue for Canadian ophthalmic employers to connect with experienced ophthalmic medical personnel. We feel that LES is the preferred North American destination for online ophthalmic employment, and CSOMP is the premier association representing Canadian ophthalmic medical personnel, so our partnership represents great convenience for employers and job-seekers."

Added Brad McCorkle, founder of LES, “In light of the shortage of trained eyecare professionals in the U.S., LES feels that hiring organizations could benefit from an opportunity to easily advertise internationally and reach the global market of trained vision care professionals. What LES is doing in Canada with CSOMP, and in Australia with Insight is the first step in our efforts to be the global solution for hiring ECPs. We expect more of these partnerships in new markets to follow."

Local Eye Site, the premier online employment community for eyecare professionals, enables practices, groups and vision care organizations to recruit online for ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, opticians, administrators, contact lens techs, optical salespeople and other positions. After openings are posted on localeyesite.com, jobs are automatically posted and/or promoted on the websites of the organizations in the LES Power Network, including 20/20, Vision Monday, Review of Optometry, Review of Optometric Business, Review of Ophthalmology, SightNation and other associations and web destinations.
