January 6, 2012 12:25 AM

CINCINNATI— LCA-Vision (NASDAQ: LCAV) reported that it performed 14,205 LasikPlus procedures during the fourth quarter of 2011, an increase of 30 percent compared with 10,891 procedures during the fourth quarter of 2010. Same-store procedures increased by 33 percent from 10,671 procedures during the fourth quarter of 2010, the fifth consecutive quarter of year-over-year same-store procedure growth.

"We are delighted with the 30 percent year-over-year growth in procedures, and our discussions with industry sources support our belief that we again gained market share during the quarter," said LCA-Vision chief operating officer David L. Thomas. "While focusing on improvements in our core business, we are embarking on a diversification strategy to further support future growth and profitability by expanding into cataract and premium intraocular lens (IOL) surgeries, as well as adding a co-management offering that could provide a referral base for Lasik, cataract and premium IOL patients."

LCA-Vision will release fourth quarter 2011 financial results prior to market opening on Feb. 14, 2012. A conference call and webcast to discuss the results also will be held that day at 10:00 a.m. ET.
