Mindy Bernstein.
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Services were held in New Jersey yesterday for veteran sales executive and Kenmark territory manager, Mindy Bernstein, 71, who passed away on Tuesday after a long illness.

“It is with heavy hearts that the Kenmark Group announces the passing of our beloved long-time Kenmark sales representative, Mindy Bernstein,” the company said in a statement. “There are few optical retailers or ECPs in the New York/New Jersey area who didn’t know Mindy. As a fixture in the eyewear industry for over 30 years and with Kenmark for over 15 years, she had a love of design and selling that was unparalleled. Mindy was a frequent sales rep of the year, a patient trainer and a loyal friend who will be dearly missed by the Kenmark Group and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.”

Noted Kenmark’s CEO Don Howard, “As a matriarch to our sales force and a good-natured reality check to our design team, she kept us focused on our customer’s needs. Above all, she loved Kenmark and we loved her in return. Our hearts are broken to lose her.”

Kenmark COO Mike Cundiff added, “Mindy had a great eye for product, an unbelievable drive to succeed and loyal friendships with all of her accounts. She was an irreplaceable member of the Kenmark family.”

Bernstein was named by Vision Monday as one of the “Most Influential Women in Optical” in 2003, in the first edition of the signature report.

Mindy was predeceased by her husband Seymour Pollack. She is survived by her two sisters, Ann and Sheilah, and by her two sons, Richard Bernstein and his wife Monica of Merrick, NY, and David Bernstein and his wife Mindy of Port Washington. NY, and by 4 grandchildren.

Donations in her honor may be made to American Friends of Mogen David Adom, at afmda.org. Expressions of sympathy may be e-mailed to marketing@kenmarkoptical.com and will be forwarded on to Mindy’s family.
