OneSight Research Foundation Grants $40,000 in Scholarships to Honor Dr. Stanley Pearle’s Legacy

February 8, 2012 12:15 AM

CINCINNATI—This year, the OneSight Research Foundation will once again honor Dr. Stanley Pearle’s legacy and his commitment to education, leadership and community service through a scholarship fund in his name. In 2012, OneSight’s Dr. Stanley Pearle Scholarship Fund will grant a total of $40,000 to students seeking a degree in optometry through 20 scholarships valued at $2,000 each.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a fully accredited college or university pursuing full-time graduate studies in an optometry program. Scholarships are based on scholastic performance and potential, and evidence of commitment to a career in the optometric profession and to community service. Second, third and fourth-year optometry students interested in 2012 scholarships can apply now through April 15, at www.onesight.org. Students with questions about the scholarship process can contact Trina Parasiliti at (972) 277-6191.

“It’s exciting to be able to award deserving students with a scholarship in honor of Dr. Pearle’s memory,” said Dr. Jason Singh, OneSight senior director. “As the founder of Pearle Vision, Dr. Pearle believed strongly in education, leadership and community service—all traits we see year after year exemplified by our winners.”

Since its inception in 2007, OneSight’s Dr. Stanley Pearle Scholarship Fund has awarded a total of $140,000 in scholarships to 70 students.
