With awards season in full swing Bold Face has movies on the brain. In this week’s edition, we highlight the stars of three recent box office releases and the frames that made their cut…

Brea Bee appears in the critically-acclaimed, romantic dramedy, Silver Linings Playbook, as Nikki, the ex-wife of bipolar Pat Solitano, played by Bradley Cooper. After eight months in a mental institution, he moves back in with is parents while he tries to get his life back on track. Pat wants to reconcile with his ex-wife but a restraining order keeping him from contacting her complicates matters. Things get even more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence, a mysterious girl with problems of her own. The film has already earned a Best Female Actress Golden Globe and SAG Award for Lawrence, as well as numerous nominations at the Globes, SAG’s and BAFTA Awards, not to mention its eight Oscar nominations. Jessica Chastain exploded onto the scene in 2011 with starring roles in seven film releases; for her performance in The Help she received Best Supporting Actress nominations at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremonies. In 2012, she followed up that impressive feat by starring in the highly acclaimed military thriller Zero Dark Thirty and the horror film Mama. For the former, she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress (Drama) and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. With the release of Mama and Zero Dark Thirty, Chastain became the first woman in 50 years to have the leading role in the top two movies at the box office. Though not nearly as favorably recognized by critics, any film that stars a living legend is worth the $13 admission price. The Guilt Trip, which hit theaters at the end of December, stars Barbara Streisand and Seth Rogen as a mother and son who find themselves on an unexpected cross-country road trip. Rogen, who plays Andy, an inventor, begrudgingly invites his widowed mother (Streisand) on the road under the guise of shilling an environmentally-friendly cleaning fluid but also with the intention of reuniting her with a long-lost love. Of course antics ensue and REM Eyewear’s house brand collection, Indie, is along for the ride, thanks to Rogen sporting the brand’s Quinn style throughout the film.
