ASTORIA, New York—"Persol Magnificent Obsessions," the third and final installation in a series of three exhibitions sponsored by Luxottica (NYSE:LUX) opened with a launch party July 10 at the Museum of the Moving Image. On view until Nov. 10 2013, the exhibit features the last 10 of 30 stories of obsessive craftsmanship in filmmaking.

The displays offer visitors the opportunity to view rarely seen artifacts from some of cinema’s most iconic films, as well as behind-the-scenes research notes, sketches and materials used in the development process by some of the world’s great filmmakers. The launch party featured a themed dinner curated by famed chef Mario Batali with musical accompaniment by Francisco Novarro, guitarist on the soundtrack for the movie Frida. Celebrities in attendance included Emma Roberts, Liev Schreiber, Marisa Tomei and Zosia Mamet.

Launched in 2011, the exhibition takes inspiration from Persol's handcrafted 30-step process that the company views as synonymous with the steps taken to deliver great filmmaking. Each year since its launch, Persol has celebrated 10 stories of fierce passion, profound research and meticulous attention to detail in a series of exhibitions curated by acclaimed film and contemporary art specialist, Michael Connor.
