ALEXANDRIA, Va.—
The Vision Council has opened online registration for the 2013 Optical Lab Division meeting. The annual event will once again be held in conjunction with the continuing education and exhibits at International Vision Expo West, Oct. 2 to Oct. 5, in the newly renovated Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.
“We have created a highly relevant program for labs based on feedback from our members,” said Susie Lesher, chair of The Vision Council’s Optical Lab Division. “There is no other place to receive top-notch, lab-centric education while networking with hundreds of your peers. When you combine those two things with International Vision Expo West’s huge exhibit hall and extensive conference program offerings, you can’t go wrong. The Optical Lab Division meeting continues to be the best place for labs to get business done.”
Educational programming at this year’s Optical Lab Division meeting will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 2 in the afternoon. The Optical Lab Division’s programming committee, headed by Drake McLean of Dietz-McLean Optical, has brought together thought-leaders, specialized experts and panelists to tackle five trending industry topics of importance to labs:
- Making Eyewear to the Standard
- The Impact of Healthcare Reform on Lab Businesses
- The Influences of ECP Buying Groups on Optometrists' Lab Selection
- Legal and Regulatory Updates
- Redos in the Lab
“This year our committee selected the theme ‘Bringing it All Together for You,’ which is absolutely appropriate for the meeting,” said Drake McLean, program chair for the Optical Lab Division. “Over the course of four days, you will have access to networking opportunities, timely education topics, special industry events, and hands-on exhibits—all of which has been carefully designed with lab professionals in mind. It’s a must attend event for lab owners and members of their team.”
There is no cost to attend the Optical Lab Division meeting for members of The Vision Council. Members who register receive complimentary access to all breakfasts, lunches, special events and educational programming. Non-members can register for lab education at $50 per session (per person).
The 14th Annual Optical Pioneers Hall of Fame Banquet will be held Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas. The names of this year’s Hall of Fame inductees and Directors’ Choice Award recipient will be announced in July. Each year the banquet brings together optical industry professionals—new and veteran—to celebrate the rich heritage of this strong and diverse industry. Tickets are free to members of The Vision Council and can be purchased by non-members. Ticket reservations can be made online at www.thevisioncouncil.org/labmeeting.
