BOISE, Idaho—Proof Eyewear, an online optical retailer based in Eagle, Idaho, has been chosen to appear on the national reality television show, “Shark Tank.” The show, which pits a selection of contestants seeking financial support against five celebrity investors, is scheduled to air on ABC on Friday, Feb. 22.

In each episode of Shark Tank, nascent entrepreneurs are given the chance to pitch their company or idea to a panel of highly successful investors. By appearing on the show, Proof Eyewear has been given the chance to partner with an investor along with attaining national visibility. Said Taylor Dame, Proof Eyewear CFO, “We also desired to gain million dollar, or even billion dollar, resources and contacts which the celebrity investors can provide.”

Proof Eyewear was founded in 2010 by Brooks Dames and his two brothers on the basis of creating wood sunglasses while exercising environmental responsibility. The company primarily manufactures and distributes designer sunglasses made from sustainable wood sources, while donating a portion of revenues to nonprofit programs including a charity in India that provides sight saving surgery to individuals unable to afford health care.

The company internationally distributes its products, which include sun and optical frames along with apparel, accessories and other merchandise, via their website, iwantproof.com.
