Want to make your customers feel like a million dollars? A well-made pair of eyewear, featuring high-quality materials, designed with unique accents, and pairing carefully considered colors and patterns, can be the answer. And, it does not need to cost a lot to give clients sumptuous options that offer unique, personal style. This year, striking colors are punctuated by metal rivets, Swarovski crystals, and styling that brings fresh twists to traditional eyeshapes in both ophthalmic and sunwear offerings.

This is a joint editorial initiative of Vision Monday and 20/20 Magazine, sponsored by Lafont, Match Eyewear, McGee Group, Ogi, ProDesign, Viva International Group and WestGroupe.

VIVA INTERNATIONAL GROUP
GANT

The G Julian ophthalmic style (top) in tortoise for men creates a polished, understated and cool, addition to any outfit; metal rivets, logo, and other features on black acetate temples update the wayfarer-inspired GS Maxwell sunwear.

Twisting Retro into Contemporary

The new Gant collection this spring takes on retro styles in wayfarer-inspired silhouettes and unique color details, giving them a modern twist. The eyewear reflects the Gant lifestyle brand, which puts a European touch on a heritage of American sportwear. The brand is aimed at men and women, ages 25 to 59+, who are urban, well-educated and intellectual, who travel and enjoy active lifestyles.

Two key trends are featured here: duotone combinations in the women’s collection and wayfarer-esque designs in the men’s group. The women’s styles feature gradient color finishes and marbleized color combinations in shades of purple, brown and olive. The men’s full-rim and semi-rimless eyewear offer thin metal paired with leather finishes on sculpted acetate temples for a masculine touch.

In both collections, the semi-rimless styles exude a contemporary appeal, and feature handmade acetate and spring hinges to enhance their durability.

GUESS BY MARCIANO

Swarovski crystals spotlight the intersection of temples and framefronts in gorgeous multi-toned tortoise shell on the GM 653 (top); on the GM 657, daring leopard-print is outlined by black acetate on this double-laminate style, with metal features at the hinges and a raised logo on the temples. All Marciano sunwear feature CR39 lenses.
Taking Everyday Fashion to the Edge

This season, the runway-inspired Guess by Marciano optical collection takes sophisticated style and refines it with dramatically luxe details. Silhouettes ranging from cat eyes to geometric round polish off the collection in subtly sensual animal prints for a fun and flirty tone. Working with handmade acetate tips and temples and Swarovski crystal adornments, the Marciano woman is framed perfectly for every occasion.

Guess by Marciano is the first brand extension from Guess, and the eyewear follows suit, with fashion-forward, edgy styling, for confident women in their 30s through 50s, who crave sophisticated glamour, women who follow fashion but are not slaves to it, and who appreciate high quality and style over brand appeal alone. These are women who want to put glamour into their everyday fashion.

Marciano styles draw upon influences of the 1950s and 1960s, combining exclusive high-end packaging, progressive-lens-friendly frames (at least a 28mm) and affordable luxury pricing.

WESTGROUPE
KLIIK DENMARK

Kliik Denmark updates established eyewear shapes with innovative coloring. The KL-495’s two colors on the frame fronts and temples enliven these round frames for women with distinctive flair; the KL-494 for men uses a thin full rim of acetate, giving this traditional retro eyeshape a lighter, fresher look.

PRODESIGN DENMARK
4TH DIMENSION

Model 4680 (top) features a double-laminate design, backing classic dark retro colors with beautiful lighter colors like turquoise and magenta to highlight the feminine style; the collection’s stainless steel rivets and hinge accents lend a distinctive flair to this classic look.
Light, Sophisticated, Feminine, Retro

Taking eyewear to a new, distinct level, ProDesign Denmark’s 4th Generation collection produces frames with a more chic, urban and sporty look by finding the right interaction between colors and details. These frames are for people who want their eyewear to be noticed, while allowing them to create a truly individual personal style.

While retro frames were chunky with thick, heavy temples, these new styles feature light, sophisticated details. The frame front colors are subtle and classic, with a variety of two-tone color combinations of dark acetate on top and lighter shades below. As a surprising twist, the frames have an added layer of beautiful pearly pastel acetate on the inside, to accentuate feminine styles.

Diamond-shaped rivets on the frame fronts and a wavy metal diamond design at the hinge add to the beauty of these frames. All acetate frames in the collections come with optional built-in nosepads.

Molding Materials for the Modern Male

Ogi Eyewear is launching Evo-Tec, a new sophisticated eyewear collection for today’s man. According to Joe Tallier, OGI’s vice president of global sales, “Ogi feels men are consistently overlooked in the marketplace. In 2013, we will be focusing on men’s eyewear beginning with the Evo-Tec collection. The transcendent build, adjustable nosepads and lightweight durability will enable a tailored fit for a multitude of generations.”

Evo-Tec features an exceptionally lightweight construction and designs that merge the richness and depth of fine acetate with titanium, one of the lightest metals for eyewear. Ogi’s proprietary coloring process on this material evokes a sense of unique distinction with an unprecedented aesthetic, while providing a comfortable fit.

The Evo-Tec collection debuts in five styles, and each is available in four different color combinations. The company is supporting the Evo-Tec collection with countercards, postcards, large window banners and logo plaques.

MCGEE GROUP
BADGLEY MISCHKA

High-quality materials create a distinctive look for the Badgley Mischka eyewear styles, all of which feature exotic-sounding French women’s names. The Sabine sunwear style (on model) connects black framefront and coral-colored temples with a sweeping metal piece at the hinge to create beach chic; the Arielle sunwear styles, in black and brown, feature double-laminate translucent zyl with Swarovski crystals on a wave of white or translucent zyl temples offset by the darker color on top.
Old Hollywood Meets New Elegance

Badgley Mischka offers elegant style that caters to a young, modern, couture customer, without forsaking women of any age. The McGee Group has translated the glamour of old Hollywood into fashionable eyewear and sunwear with the highest quality products and design elements.

Featuring the latest design techniques, the Badgley Mischka eyewear and sunwear collections are inspired by Badgley Mischka’s signature fabrics, layering, and draping. The frame designs feature a heightened exclusivity, with custom colors on acetate generated through a multilayered transparent silkscreen. Swarovski crystals and European components adorn these high-quality frames. Beveled and sculpted temples and accents translate movement.

The metal-casted décors are inspired by Badgley Mischka’s jewelry pieces. The sun collection features double-gradient polarized and non-polarized lenses in fashion colors. Both collections offer fashionable, modern designs with elegant details for the woman who desires feminine, romantic and luxurious eyewear.

MATCH EYEWEAR
ADRIENNE VITTADINI

Ophthalmic model AV-1108 (top), shown here in purple, blends simple geometric shaping with delicate filigree etching on the temple; sunwear model AV-1912 (bottom) contrasts elegant, narrow temples with an oversized retro frame front, featured here in tortoise. Swarovski crystals provide subtle, glamorous accents for both models.

The Luxury Is in the Details

The cachet of a brand name alone does not guarantee true magnificence. Match Eyewear’s Adrienne Vittadini collection is designed and crafted meticulously from premium, quality materials to create captivating and timeless styling for fashion-forward and sophisticated women, 30 and older. The Spring/Summer 2013 collection features refined shaping, rich colors and textures, and exquisite detailing in keeping with the “accessible luxury” of the brand.

Ophthalmic model AV-1108 features a semi-rimless, geometric front with intricately laser-etched filigree temples, subtly embellished with Swarovski crystals. Vibrant semi-matte colors include purple, red, brown and black.

The newest sunwear release, AV-1912, features the finest quality acetate and a retro-inspired oversized eyeshape with traditional dark lenses. The tasteful AV logo emblem encircled by Swarovski crystal accents on delicate, narrow temples completes the polished glamour that defines the entire collection. It comes in black, wine and the season’s hottest tortoise color trend, Havana.

LAFONT PARIS
RENDEZ-VOUS

The appropriately named Louxor frames in the Rendez-Vous collection give women a choice of beautiful translucent acetate frame fronts and temples that seem to float on a lacey architecture of stainless-steel with Swarovski crystals. Model 100 (top) pairs arresting red acetate with striking black metal, while model 364 takes a lighter tone with a lavender acetate with light blue metal.
Voulez Vous Parisian Luxury?

Lafont, the optical fashion house that has celebrated the lifestyle of the “City of Light” since 1923, mixes design, handmade French quality and Parisian chic to create an exclusive brand with an “art de vivre” mind-set. Lunettes Lafont eyewear, created in the 1970s, is sold in more than 40 countries and is still family owned, giving full control over brand image and the creative process.

Part of what makes this eyewear distinctive—80 percent of the colors in the Lafont collection (both in acetate and metal) are completely exclusive. This Spring, the Lafont Paris collection, Rendez-vous, espouses a philosophy that says, “a frame is a frame but the color makes the true difference.” The latest sunwear and ophthalmic styles offer more than 25 new colors and wildlife inspired prints. Vibrant, luminous acetate is paired with stainless-steel patterns with Swarovski crystals to produce frame fronts with eye-popping results.
