STYLE: Bold Face Bold Face: Kicking A** By Deirdre Carroll Friday, January 18, 2013 12:00 PM Bold Face explores the cult of celebrity and the styles, trends and brands that stars show off in movies, at events and living their daily lives. To be considered for inclusion please contact senior editor, Deirdre Carroll. Sometimes life just calls for an action movie. Hand-to-hand combat, special effects and fancy weaponry can have its place and the three stars in this edition of Bold Face are certainly comfortable in the genre… almost as comfortable as they are in their fashionable frames… Starz’s Spartacus: War of the Damned debuts its third and final season starring Liam McIntyre in the title role. The season centers on the final battle between Spartacus, the rebel leader, and his nemesis, Marcus Crassus. In true gladiator style, War of the Damned promised to be full of bare chests and short Roman skirts, but potentially even double the violence. Decidedly more attired, McIntyre is pictured here in the Salvatore Ferragamo SF105SL sun style from Marchon. Spartacus: War of the Damned premieres on Starz at 9 pm EST on Jan. 25… Matt Damon cut his action hero teeth in the Bourne franchise and though he may eventually reprise his role as Jason Bourne, more recently his roles have taken a more dramatic turn. Currently in theatres, he stars in Promised Land as a corporate salesperson who visits a rural town in an attempt to buy fracking rights from the local residents. Damon has been making the award circuit rounds and was recently snapped wearing the Bevel Chin Chin ophthalmic frame at the 22nd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards where he received a career tribute award… Jason Statham is an action star and makes no qualms about it. In fact, a trained martial artist, he usually performs his own stage combat and stunts. The Brit recently attended the European premiere of Safe in the Oliver Peoples O'Malley sunglasses. Safe tells the story of a young girl whose memory holds a priceless numerical code and is being pursued by the Russian mob and corrupt NYC cops. Coming to her aid is, Luke Wright (Statham), an ex-cage fighter whose life was destroyed by the gangsters on her trail. In addition to Safe, Statham also appeared alongside established action film actors Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Jet Li in The Expendables 2.
