Bold Face explores the cult of celebrity and the styles, trends and brands that stars show off in movies, at events and living their daily lives. To be considered for inclusion please contact senior editor, Deirdre Carroll.

Some actresses are known for their period piece work, others gravitate towards outer space. In this edition of Bold Face we focus on the latter and highlight three stars whose roles routinely take them to the Final Frontier…

Alien, Aliens, Alien3, Wall-E, Avatar, Sigourney Weaver’s extraterrestrial-related pedigree cannot be denied. The legendary actress has taken a break from deep space capers to star on Broadway as Masha in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. The play is a comedy by Christopher Durang that centers on the three very different, middle-aged siblings. Weaver’s character is a self-centered movie star who is unaware that she is on the decline. The play is nominated for six Tony Awards including Best Play. Weaver’s acting career is certainly not on the decline. It is rumored that she will reprise her role as Dr. Grace Augustine in Avatar 2 planned for 2015. Here Weaver looks like the movie star she is in the Salvatore Ferragamo SF647S sunglasses from Marchon. The Tony Awards will air Sunday, June 9 on CBS…

Jessica Alba may best be known as Sue Storm from The Fantastic Four, probably the most attractive astronaut you’re likely ever to see, she gained the nifty ability to disappear altogether after a little cosmic radiation exposure. Of course, the sequel, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, sees the troupe fighting the alien Surfer and the planet-eating Galactus, but the actress’ space exploration doesn’t end there. She lent her voice to this year’s animated Escape from Planet Earth about an astronaut caught in a trap when he responds to an SOS from a notoriously dangerous alien planet. Alba will return to her bootie kicking ways in the rest if her films out this year; Machete Kills, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Autómata, sadly none of which have any connection to space travel. Here the beauty wears the Carrera CA6000S sunglasses from Safilo

I don’t know about you but Bold Face’s most highly anticipated film this summer is the Star Trek sequel, Into Darkness. Yes, Bold Face is a Trekkie. Granted, our last deep space loving star not only plays the iconic Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek reboot but also starred alongside Ms. Weaver in the groundbreaking Avatar. Rumor has it that Zoe Saldana is also planning to reprise her role as Neytiri in the 2015 sequel. Fingers crossed. Luckily her extraterrestrial run-ins don’t end there; in 2014 the actress will play Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy based on the comic book. Until then, we’ve got Star Trek Into Darkness out on May 17, the June cover of InStyle magazine and this picture of the lovely Saldana in the Prada PR 27NS sunglasses from Luxottica to tide us over.
