BOSTON— Candescent Partners has acquired Eye Health Vision Centers, based in Dartmouth, Mass. Co-investors in the transaction were Eagle Private Capital, LLC., First New England Capital, Bay Capital, Pine Street Capital Partners and Plexus Capital. Terms were not disclosed.

Stephen F. Sullivan, M.D., founder and chairman of the board of Eye Health Vision Centers, opened a solo ophthalmology practice in New Bedford, Mass., almost 40 years ago and built it into a group of five full service vision, hearing and surgery centers with 24 doctors and 165 employees throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. “I am excited to now be a part of a much larger organization and to partner with them in continuing to achieve the goals that I embarked upon years ago,” said Dr. Sullivan, who plans to continue with the organization.

This follows Candescent’s acquisition of Koch Eye Associates at the beginning of 2012, as reported by VMail Feb. 1, 2012. Headquartered in Warwick, R.I., and founded by the Koch family in 1981, Koch Eye Associates operates seven locations throughout Rhode Island and performs a high volume of surgical procedures in its surgery center. About the acquisition, Sandy McGrath, managing partner of Candescent Partners, said, “We look forward to the integration of the two largest comprehensive vision health companies in New England.”
