VANCOUVER, British Columbia— Online optical retailer, Coastal Contacts Inc. (NASDAQ: COA) (TSX: COA) (Stockholm: COA) has announced that it has reached vision plan agreements with a leading Canadian benefits administrator, servicing 3,000 employers across the country, and two corporate clients headquartered in this province, Paladin Security and BuildDirect.com, together with a total of more than 6,000 employees. While a Coastal spokesperson declined to identify the Canadian benefits administrator, he did tell VMail, “One of the corporate plans is a discount plan; the other is a funded vision plan. These plans do not include a provider panel.”

This follows the announcement, reported by VMail Nov. 28, 2012, that the company had launched The Coastal Vision Plan for employers and membership organizations that would provide each employee and his or her dependants with an initial free pair of prescription eyeglasses and ongoing savings on prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. Coastal is actively marketing its vision services to managed care and corporate clients in the U.S., an initiative that is being headed by Greg Lechner, vice president, business development.
