CINCINNATI—The ECP Network, an alliance of independent eyecare providers based here, hosted its First Annual National Member Meeting at the Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati, Ohio on Aug. 22. The event provided an opportunity for practice owners and staff to learn the latest on topics such as ICD-10, ACO (Accountable Care Organizations) progress, ACA (Affordable Care Act) impact on practices, how to make their practices attractive to Millennials, and the value of social media in their practices. “The ECP Network National Meeting was helpful and extremely well presented,” commented Lora A. Ledford, OD, who is a member of the organization. “The speakers and their topics were very informative and will help our practices plan better as we prepare for the ICD-10 transition. It is also great to get together with other like-minded practitioners and their staff to discuss best practices as well as the challenges we all face on a daily basis. Well done, ECP Network.” With over 200 hundred attendees from eight states, the event featured informative speakers and included opportunities to meet with key industry partners. It culminated with a dinner and an evening of entertainment. “Our goal for this event was to provide our members with the best speakers, the best content and the best experience possible. The ECP Network will continue to deliver on what our 1,000-plus member practices tell us is most important to independent optometry,” remarked Ben Krieger, vice president of ECP services for the ECP Network. Ronald Cooke, OD, CEO of Diversified Ophthalmics, Inc., a preferred industry partner of the ECP Network, added, “The ECP Network is a model organization for independent optometry with their focus on providers’ needs and patient care, not on profiteering motives.” n
