NEW YORK—In continuation of AMD Week, taking place Sept. 22 to 30, Lighthouse International has announced the re-launch of author Henry Grunwald’s Twilight: Losing Sight, Gaining Insight, a personal account of the late author’s experience with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Originally published in 1999, the story has been newly released in time for AMD Week in the formats of an e-book, digital audio book, and paperback edition. The new versions include a forward by Mark Ackermann, Lighthouse president and CEO.

Grunwald, who served as a US Ambassador to Austria and was the Editor-in-Chief of Time, Inc., tells the story of his own struggle with AMD in an effort to connect and share wisdom with other vision loss patients. According to Lighthouse International marketing director, accessible technology Dorrie Rush, the book is a “must-read” for someone with macular degeneration.

"Twilight: Losing Sight, Gaining Insight speaks of a world millions are living in, yet few are willing to discuss, Rush, who is also diagnosed with a degenerative disease of the macula, described in her review. “Mr. Grunwald felt as if he was involuntarily joining a ‘secret society’… He takes us into the dimming and distorted reality of central vision loss and leads us directly to the gifts of his gained insight.”
