MELVILLE, N.Y.—Marchon Eyewear has expanded its Eye Make a Difference charity initiative to include an eyewear donation program, giving individuals the ability to live fuller lives through the gift of sight by donating gently used eyewear.

Together with their accounts, Marchon will make it possible for each donated frame to be refurbished and distributed to more than one billion people worldwide, paving the way for those who can’t afford or don’t have access to eyewear. The addition of the donation component will improve a child’s ability to learn in school and gives adults the independence needed to perform daily tasks.

“Marchon prides itself on its commitment to giving back to the community,” according to Claudio Gottardi, Marchon’s president and CEO. “With the addition of an eyewear donation component to our established charity program, we are able to create a more direct way for everyone to make a difference.”

Each donated prescription frame is refurbished through the Folsom Project for the Visually Impaired and boxed up to await optometrists and other health care professionals during sight-related international mission trips.
