HOUSTON—A new Vision Source-named surgical center has opened at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) and is the first surgery center in the nation to be housed at, and affiliated with, a college of optometry.

Classes have already started in the new Vision Source Ambulatory Surgical Center, which is located in the University’s new Molly and Doug Barnes Vision Institute. The Center is also the only licensed ambulatory surgery center in Houston, and one of only 50 across the country, to offer bladeless cataract surgery.

The new Vision Institute is located in the University of Houston’s Health & Biomedical Sciences Building. VMail reported in June 2012 about the establishment of the Institute. ■
