CINCINNATI—The OneSight Vision Center at Oyler School, a self-sustaining, school-based vision center, opened here on Oct. 12. It will provide vision care to more than 2,000 students annually in the Greater Cincinnati area, and it is being considered as a model for potential expansion by the Ohio Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, two organizations that provided expertise, guidance and funding for the center.

The OneSight Vision Center at Oyler School is the result of the Community Learning Center model being incorporated through the Cincinnati Public School District. It will provide comprehensive eye exams, glasses, fittings, adjustments, medical eyecare and vision therapy with an onsite optometrist, ophthalmic technician and optician.

Made possible through a public/private partnership, the OneSight Vision Center at Oyler School will be run by the Cincinnati Health Department. The Oyler School has donated space and will provide ongoing maintenance. The Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI) and The CEI Foundation provided expertise, guidance and funding. Growing Well Cincinnati and Cincinnati Public Schools provided guidance, support and counsel. The OneSight global vision charity sponsored by Luxottica provided all exam equipment, eyewear, operational expertise and start-up funding to support the Vision Center staff.

“OneSight has a long history of partnership with the Cincinnati Public Schools to provide quality vision care to students through temporary clinics,” said Jason Singh, vice president of OneSight. “We are so excited to expand our support to provide year-round access through this innovative school-based model.”
