HOUSTON— Benny Pena, OD, has been named Texas State Optical’s 2013 chairman of the board. A family practice optometrist of full scope medical optometry with practices in Kerrville, Texas, and Fredericksburg, Texas, Pena has been practicing in the Texas hill country since graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2007. He also recently made a presentation for the leadership of the Rosenberg School of Optometry during Texas State Optical’s annual retreat.

He is a member of the Texas Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, the Texas State Optical board of directors and the Notre Dame School Council. Previously, he served five years in the Marines and in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm followed by working as an ABO-certified optician while earning his B.S. degree from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. ■
