PEORIA, Ill.—Bard Optical, with 20 locations throughout the state of Illinois, has launched a year-long campaign tying into the company’s celebration of its 75th Anniversary in 2016.

Bard is donating eyeglasses to in-need public school students in each of the communities the company serves. Bard Optical’s 75 Pairs for 75 Years program started on Jan. 1 and will end on Dec. 31, 2016. The program provides up to 75 pairs of glasses per community. Public school districts will be provided vouchers for students to use to obtain the free eyeglasses.

“Too often, in-need students do not receive the eyeglasses they need to succeed in school and at home,” noted Jane Scott, Bard’s marketing director. “We realize the great need for not only vision health at any age, but the opportunities opened to children with the ability to see well, both in the classroom and out. Bard Optical will partner with each district to meet the vision care needs of these students. We’ll be giving up to 75 pairs (one pair per student) of glasses per district.” Scott noted that Marchon has donated 1,000 children’s frames to this cause.

Details of how the program works are posted here.

Bard initiated a similar program when the chain marked its 70th anniversary. Since that time, as the business environment has changed, Bard has maintained its growth throughout the state, as dba reported in August 2015 in this exclusive interview with Diana J. Hall, Bard’s president.
