ST. PAUL, Minn.—3M (NYSE:MMM) announced on Jan. 3 that it has completed the sale of its safety prescription eyewear business to Hoya Vision Care, a division of Hoya Corp (TOKYO: 7741), a global leader in the eyeglass lens industry.

VMail reported that the two companies had reached a definitive agreement in December.

The safety prescription eyewear business provides a comprehensive line of frames, prescription lenses and premium coating options in a custom-made solution. The business has annual global sales of approximately $45 million.

The safety prescription eyewear business was part of 3M’s Personal Safety Division, which is in the Safety & Graphics Business.
