In the Fall 2018 Consumer View, the National Retail Federation surveyed over 3,000 consumers to get their views about shopping behaviors centered around sales and promotions. They found that discounts are more important than ever—over 3 in 4 people consider promotions to be very or extremely important when shopping. Survey results also revealed that sales can be irresistible to shoppers with 4 in 10 saying they can’t resist making a purchase when something is on sale. And of course, this time of year, the holiday season can offer the best sales—70 percent say that they expect to find the best deals around holiday-specific sale events.
