The global wearable health care industry will grow from $0.9 billion global wearable in 2017 to an estimated $17.8 billion in 2021, according to the business information site Raconteur.

A recent infographic published by Healthcare Intelligence Network (HIN) illustrates how wearables are playing an increasingly important role in helping people track and maintain their health and wellness. According to research from Ericsson, Accenture, Tractica and Raconteur that was aggregated by HIN:

• 62 percent of consumers agree that wearables will put people in control of their own health

• 58 percent agree that wearables with feedback and alerts will provide personalized care

• 60 percent agree that wearables will lead to healthier lifestyles

• 90 percent of consumers would be willing to share personal data from a wearable device or app with a doctor

• 63 percent would be willing to share data with their health insurance provider
