NEW YORK—The beginning of the new year means it’s time to make appointments for those yearly exams and since January is Glaucoma Awareness Month, ECPs on Main Street have taken to social media to remind patients that getting your comprehensive eye exam and getting screened for glaucoma is just as important as any other aspect of your health. As prevalent as glaucoma is, 50 percent of the population affected is not aware of the disease. As VMAIL previously reported, the disease currently affects nearly three million people ages 40 and older with numbers estimated to increase by nearly 50 percent to 4.3 million by 2032 and by more than 90 percent to 5.5 million by 2050.
