Ophthalmic Technician

Our Florida Eye Center office in Tampa is seeking two Full Time Ophthalmic Technicians and we are in need of one Ophthalmic Technician for our Zephryhills office. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. The role is responsible for daily patient care and flow of clinic activities. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in the role.  We are offering a $2500 Signing Bonus to be paid out in two installments - first $1250.00 will be paid out upon hire, second installment of $1250.00 to be paid out after six months of employment.  

Keys to Success in this Role:

Promptly and professionally assist the doctor in patient care
Complete the start of day processes
Perform visual acuity, lensometry, refractions, tonometry, muscle testing, confrontation visual fields, and pupil exams
Utilizes proper installation of eye drops and sterility
Perform diagnostic studies and treatments as ordered by the providers (Ascans, Visual Fields,Glare Test, Keratometry, Corneal Thickness, OCT)
Maintain medical equipment; ensure all equipment is calibrated, cleaned, sterilized, charged, and covered
Handle patient and clinical messages
Perform incidental duties as needed

Job Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician preferred but not required 
Strong customer service orientation
Strong team player
Basic computer proficiency
Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role required

Physical requirements

Able to stand or walk for long periods
Use of proper body mechanics

Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
High level verbal and written communication skills
Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously 

Occupational Exposure:

High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
