REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: VP of Professional Services HVHC
The Director of Optometric Recruitment & Development will be responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of all aspects of Doctor Recruitment and Development and will contribute as a key member of the Professional Services team to achieve the strategic goals of the department. He/she will support the Visionworks Field in the securing and development of world class Doctors of Optometry for all open Doctor positions among the Visionworks enterprise:
230+ Corporate Employed locations
220+ Sublease locations
175+ Professional Corporations (PC)
In the next 1-3 years the Visonworks retail chain will grow from 600+ locations to 1000+ locations. The Director of Optometric Recruitment & Development will collaborate with key stakeholders in order to enhance “One HVHC” as a total integrated vision solution company. The primary focus will be in establishing, securing and maintaining the pipeline of Doctor of Optometry talent within the Visionworks chain. The Director will focus on partnering with the field in upgrading current Doctor talent in existing markets and securing Doctor talent in new markets. In addition the Director will work with the VP of Professional Services, Human Resources, Training & Development and Store Operations in establishing programs (Employed Doctor On-Boarding, New Doctor Orientation Program to ensure the development of “brand right” Doctor talent at Visionworks. On-going, the Director working with the VP of Professional Services will help to develop a Business Development Profile for sublease Doctors and establishing a Leadership Development Program for employed Doctors.
Establish and manage the Professional Recruiting Department at Visionworks
Supervise the Professional Recruitment Coordinator
Develop the Visionworks “Optometric Bench” working with Sublease Administration, Human Resources Visionworks Field and Professional Corporation owners.
Maintain current database of all open employed, sublease and Professional Corporation opportunities at Visionworks and develop strategies to avoid “dark locations”.
Develop timely strategies to fill all upcoming Doctor Positions in key markets.
Utilize the Corporate Employed Doctors, “Doctor Connect Council” in sourcing Doctor leads in key markets
Develop and maintain recruitment postings via key internet recruitment sources
Foster relationships and coordinate key recruitment events at the Schools & Colleges of Optometry and develop strong student connection via key schools where Visionworks is expanding (Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California).
Develop a formalized “OD Shadowing” Program at Visionworks with key Schools of Optometry (OD Shadowing now part of Optometry School application process)
Attend and participate in key recruiting events at VEE, VEW, AOA, SECO, etc.
With Human Resources and Territory Directors, assist in coordinating interviews, pre-employment surveys, sublease applications, background checks and reference checks for all potential Doctor Candidates.
Coordinate all Professional Recruitment materials and maintain updated candidate mailing list.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the individual state statutes and laws as they pertain to the practice of Optometry in the 50 United States.
Working with HVHC Credentialing Department, ensure all new Doctors are credentialed appropriately.
In conjunction with Store Operations, Human Resources, Sublease Administration and Training & Development, create Doctor On-boarding modules for CEDs.
With above, develop new Territory Director Orientation Program focusing on Territory Director’s specific area of Doctor responsibility: employed, sublease or Professional Corporation.
Develop a New Doctor Orientation Program and application for Sublease Protocol for new sublease Doctors (this includes credentialing).
Ongoing, develop a Business Development Profile series for sublease Doctors. Develop Leadership Development Program for employed Doctors.
Stay current on trends within the Optometric industry through contact listings as well as industry publications and internet.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Doctor of Optometry with a minimum 5 years experience in multi-unit, healthcare management of Doctors of Optometry.
Strong leadership skills & demonstrated success in building/leading a team in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Strong patient and internal/external customer focus
Strong platform skills/presentation and public speaking skills with outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical abilities
Based at the HVHC home office, headquartered in San Antonio, TX
Doctor of Optometry required. Must possess current state licensure (not necessarily in Texas).
Salary and bonus commensurate with experience and in alignment with the organization’s leadership compensation structure. Excellent benefits package.
Relocation assistance, if necessary, will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
National travel with a minimum of 2 trips/month
