Ophthalmology Patient Education Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced patient educator to coordinate, oversee, and participate in all patient education and medical/surgical care for our refractive surgical patients. This includes LASIK, advanced technology refractive intraocular lenses, and image-guided laser-assisted cataract surgery.
In this key role, you will develop patient education materials for our Laser Center for Vision Care and the faculty corneal and cataract refractive patient practice, as well as plan and coordinate all patient education seminars involving cornea and cataract refractive procedures. Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills are vital in this position, because you will be the person who conveys to patients that refractive surgery is a safe and cost-effective way to improve their eyesight. You will also answer inquiries from, and follow up with, potential patients regarding all aspects of refractive surgery, present information to attendees at weekly patient education seminars, or present with designated faculty. You will educate potential cornea, cataract, or refractive patients in our clinic before and/or after the ophthalmologist sees the patient, as well as, act as the source for reliable patient information concerning complex surgical procedures.
You will also generate and maintain materials to present to faculty and senior staff members, including: written reports and spreadsheets documenting and tracking procedures performed, seminar attendance, surgical conversions, and referral sources. You will analyze the data and present your findings to the Chair, Manager, and Department Marketing and Communications Manager to help determine future marketing campaigns.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years of related experience.
