VOSH/International, Brien Holden Vision Institute and Optometry Giving Sight Seek Optometrists to Serve in Developing Countries

IPSWICH, Mass.— VOSH/International, in collaboration with the Brien Holden Vision Institute Public Health Division and supported by Optometry Giving Sight, invites North American optometrists to participate in a new initiative to build optometric education worldwide by serving in emerging optometric institutions as faculty and program development assistants. Applicants are required to have at least a four-year doctorate degree in optometry, residency completion preferred. VOSH is seeking optometrists with an interest in the academia required for recently established optometry programs aimed at addressing the human resource needs of eyecare delivery in developing countries.

Successful candidates will be required to fill the position for a minimum of two years (reviewable after year one) and relocate within a reasonable time once a position becomes available. VOSH/International will review the applications with final selection and placement by the Brien Holden Vision Institute. A stipend ranging from $34,000 to $43,000 (depending on credentials) will be provided to cover expenses, housing, relocation travel, health insurance and return travel home per year of contract.
