CARROLLTON, Texas—This year, A&A Optical is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Originally founded as a two-person shop serving the Texas optical market, A&A Optical is now a third-generation organization serving optometrists, ophthalmologists and eyecare retailers throughout the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Latin America, South America, and the Caribbean. The company's namesakes are Alexander and Agnes Liener, a husband and wife team who began operating their eyewear business in 1971 in Dallas, distributing frames throughout Texas. Within three years, the couple were developing and importing their own collections.

Their son Robert traveled the country as a sales representative, helping build the business for 16 years until he became company president in 1998. Since taking the reins, Robert has grown the business to what it is today with 10 established collections. In 2014 Aaron, grandson of Alexander and Agnes, joined the company full time.

Robert Liener said, "My father would have been very proud of the fact that we achieved 50 years. The future looks very bright for A&A in the next 50 years. I have been fully involved with A&A for almost 40 years, and I am so excited about our prospects in 2021 and beyond. Our focus in 1971 was serving the ECPs and continues to be so, in 2021.

"While 2020 was challenging for so many around the world, A&A took the opportunity to challenge ourselves to find ways to improve all facets of the company to benefit our customer base, sales team, vendors, and employees. I am so thankful that we have been able to accomplish these tasks during these difficult times; to help our customers. I want to thank our loyal customers. We look forward to continuing to serve you with the 'Ultimate Eyewear Buying Experience,'" he said.
