ST. LOUIS—The American Board of Optometry (ABO) has named two new board members. R. Scott Wooley OD, has been named an at-large member of the ABO board of directors, and Erich Hinel OD, is the American Optometric Student Association’s (AOSA) new representative to the ABO.

Wooley, who owns Precision EyeCare Center in Flora, Ill., became an ABO Diplomate in 2011. He graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in 1988 and completed an internship at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago. Wooley is a past president of the Illinois Optometric Association, still sits on several of its committees and was named its 2014 Optometrist of the Year.

Hinel became an ABO Diplomate in January 2014. He practices at the Cincinnati Eye Institute, where he completed a residency in ocular disease before joining the staff. He attended The Ohio State University for optometry school and completed a master’s degree in vision science. While in school, Hinel was national vice president of the AOSA.
