ST. LOUIS—The winners of the American Optometric Association (AOA) annual awards will be recognized during the opening general session at the 2016 Optometry’s Meeting on Wednesday, June 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Boston, Mass.

The Optometrist of the Year Award recognizes Fred Farias III, OD, of Texas; The Young Optometrist of the Year Award recognizes Christopher Wolfe, OD, of Nebraska; The Optometric Educator Award recognizes Jacqueline Davis, OD, M.P.H., of Ohio; The Paraoptometric of the Year Award recognizes Evelyn Denise Lott, CPOT, of Mississippi and The Distinguished Service Award recognizes Roger Seelye, OD, of Michigan.

The session, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc., will feature keynote speaker Buzz Aldrin, one of the first two humans to set foot on the moon and a leading space exploration advocate, who continues to chart a course for future space travel.
