Latest News ARVO’s 2016 Student Travel Fellowship Recipients By Staff Saturday, April 16, 2016 12:15 AM NEW YORK—The American Academy of Optometry (AAO) announced recipients of the 2016 Student Travel Fellowship Awards. The travel fellowships, supported by an educational grant from The Vision Care Institute, will allow five students to present their research at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual MEETING, taking place in Seattle, May 1 TO 5.The 2016 winners are Billie Beckwith-Cohen, DVM, MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry; Katie M. Litts, PhD and Cameron K. Postnikoff, MASc from the University of Alabama Birmingham, School, of Optometry; Zhuolin Liu from the Indiana University, School of Optometry; Chau-Minh Phan, MSc from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science.The AAO awards travel fellowships in order to encourage optometry students, optometric residents, and students in eye and vision related graduate programs to attend key national meetings and exchange scientific ideas on research. Fellowships are awarded primarily for accomplishment and potential in optometric research and education, and are evaluated by the American Academy of Optometry’s Research Committee.Applications for student travel fellowships to the Academy’s annual meeting in Anaheim will be available in July.
