FAIRFAX, Va.—The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators have announced the list of speakers for their 2019 ASCRS ASOA Annual Meeting, which will take place from May 3 through 7, 2019, in San Diego, Calif. On Saturday, May 4 during the ASCRS Opening General Session, Stephen C. Pflugfelder, MD, will present The Binkhorst Lecture. Dr. Pflugfelder is a professor at Baylor College of Medicine. There, he holds the James and Margaret Elkins Chair and is director of the Ocular Surface Center in the ophthalmology department. He specializes in cornea, ocular surface and tear disorders.

On Sunday, May 5, during the Sunday Summit General Session, John Medina, PhD, will present the Science, Medicine and Technology Lecture. Dr. Medina, who is a developmental molecular biologists, researcher, professor, and New York Times bestselling author, will present Brain Rules. He is also an affiliate professor of bioengineering at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and a founding director of the Talaris Research Institute.

Finally, on Monday, May 6, Ron M. Kurtz, MD, will deliver the esteemed Charles D. Kelman, MD Innovator’s Lecture. Dr. Kurtz is president and CEO of RxSight, as well as the founder of IntraLase Corporation. Formerly, he was a faculty member at the University of Michigan, where he established the Ultrafast Laser Medical Group.
