OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.—Blogger Kara-Kae James of The Mom Diggity won the “Eyecare About Reading” Book Drive competition sponsored by VSP Vision Care, Transitions Optical and Bess the Book Bus. She and two other bloggers, Meghan Cooper of JaMonkey in Atlanta and Frederick Goodall of Mocha Dad in Houston, held a book drive in their local markets in conjunction with an online national campaign. For every three books collected, VSP committed to donate one eye exam (and eyewear fitted with Transitions lenses, if needed). In total, more than 2,800 books were collected, resulting in a donation of more than 950 eye exams.

On the local level, James collected 744 books, with large donations made by the Oklahoma Lions Club and Hilldale Elementary School. As the grand prize winner, James and the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County will be visited by Bess the Book Bus and will receive 100 extra eye exams and a visit from the Eyenstein VSP/Transitions Mobile Eyes Clinic.
