LEXINGTON, Mass.—Christie Markowitz has been appointed senior director and ECP marketing lead for the Shire Ophthalmics team. Markowitz will report to Vic Noble, vice president and head of marketing for ophthalmics.

“Christie brings a wealth of experiences and key skills to the ophthalmics team, including professional and consumer marketing, digital marketing, sales and sales leadership, training and marketing operations,” the company said.

In this new role, Markowitz will lead the ECP marketing team and the professional educational and marketing endeavors for the ophthalmics franchise. She most recently served as the ECP launch lead for Xiidra (lifitegrast ophthalmic solution) 5 percent and oversaw the product rollout to the market. She was also lead for the ECP launch of the disease state awareness campaign, eyelove and www.myeyelove-ecp.com.

Markowitz has built a career in pharmaceutical marketing with a focus on professional communications across a number of therapeutic areas. Prior to joining the ophthalmics team at Shire, she worked at Endo Pharmaceuticals, and prior to that worked at Shire, on the gastrointestinal team.

Markowitz has held a number of positions at AstraZeneca, in neurology, cardiovascular, gastroenterology and central nervous system therapeutic areas. She started her career at Abbott Laboratories.
