NEW YORK—ClearVision Optical and Steve Madden, the iconic footwear and accessories brand have signed a global multi-year licensing agreement for eyewear and sunwear. The first collection, featuring styles for men, women and children, will officially launch in January 2017. The initial collection will be available for preview by invitation only at Vision Expo West and will be available for sale in mid-October.

The 51-piece collection boasts 42 pieces in optical with 20 women’s styles, 16 men’s styles and six children’s styles (three girl, three boy). Sunwear features nine pieces with five women’s styles and four men’s styles.

During the creation of initial conception, ClearVision relied greatly on its design and engineering teams to incorporate trends in new technology and material development. The resulting Madden collection features 3D printing, new lightweight materials and high-definition compressed acetate. Signature details include elements of color contrast and unique temple tips inspired by ballerina flats and zipper hardware.

“Steve Madden is an icon, a designer who understands who his consumer is and what they want,” said Peter Friedfeld, EVP at ClearVision. “The Millennial consumer is one of the most sought after and important segments today, and this brand directly speaks to the needs of this demographic—fashion, individuality and real value. As a brand celebrating 26 years of success, Madden is a staple in the wardrobes of millions, and we hope to leverage that strength with our new eyewear collection.”

Staying true to Steve Madden’s brand philosophy, Steve Madden Eyewear will release new models several times a year in response to style and market evolution. The development process will utilize ClearVision’s advanced 3D printing capabilities for prototyping, creating new textures and combinations.

“With ClearVision as our partner, we plan to expand our current footprint into the very important ophthalmic market and bring with it our legions of Madden loyal consumers,” Janine Cicero, director of licensing for Steve Madden said. “In this new relationship we feel confident we have aligned ourselves with a company whose passion and design capabilities are the perfect match to the Steve Madden brand.”
