HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.—ClearVision Optical celebrated its second annual founder’s day on May 6 in honor of Fred Friedfeld with a commemoration at its Hauppauge location. Fred, whose birthday was May 6, would have celebrated his 89th birthday this year.

Friedfeld, who at 22 established the company as a distributor of eyewear, developed a lifelong reputation for personal service and was an entrepreneur whose “strong character and sincere caring for others helped him build relationships with people all over the world.”

In 2014, the Friedfeld family established the Fred Friedfeld Memorial scholarship at the SUNY School of Optometry to recognize current optometry graduate students based on academic merit and financial need.

Throughout May, ClearVision will connect with friends and partners to remember Fred’s legacy while furthering his goal of helping others. Contributions to the scholarship fund can be made through the Optometry school’s website by selecting the Fred Friedfeld Memorial Scholarship. Donations are tax deductible and will be matched by ClearVision.

Additionally, friends are incited to share their favorite “Fred” moments on the ClearVision Facebook page throughout the month.
