NEW YORK—Review of Optometric Business (ROB) has opened registration for its series of teach-ins on private equity’s investment in optometry. The teach-ins are scheduled for this summer, and will equip OD-owners with the facts they need to make the best possible transfer deal and to meet with potential buyers. The teach-in series is titled “Demystifying Private Equity and Its Role in Optometry,” and is multi-sponsored by PE-backed companies. Sponsors include Acuity Eyecare Group, EyeCare Partners, Kavanaugh Consulting, MyEyeDr., Total ECP and VSP Ventures.

Program presenters are Michael Kling, OD, owner of Invision Optometry in San Diego, and Richard Edlow, OD, of Catonsville Eye Group in Maryland. During the teach-ins, attendees will learn the strategies of PE-backed investors, and they will be taught about how to compute their practice value, how to negotiate a transfer deal and how to prepare documents for transfer. In addition, they will be able to schedule one-on-one meetings with leading private equity-backed companies.

“There is no question that the massive investment power of private equity funds is reshaping how OD-owners envision their exit from ownership,” said Al Greco, ROB publisher. “But it is just as vital for emerging and mid-career ODs to understand the PE opportunity so they can make informed decisions to optimize their practice-building strategy.”

Registration is now open for the first two teach-ins in this series, which will take place in Dallas, Texas on July 20, 2019, and Chicago, Illinois, on Aug. 24, 2019. To register or for more information, visit the ROB’s dedicated page.
