ADELAIDE, Australia—Ellex Medical Lasers has appointed David Lubeck, MD, as chief medical officer. Dr. Lubeck, a world-renowned cataract, corneal and refractive surgeon, will play an instrumental role in driving the clinical and commercial development of the company’s portfolio of interventional, restorative treatment technologies, the company said. “As CMO at Ellex, I will have the opportunity to act as the voice of both patient and physician within the company as it develops and advances treatment technologies,” said Dr. Lubeck.

Dr. Lubeck has over 30 years of experience in ophthalmology and is compelled by the methodology and psychology of surgical learning and practice development. His primary focus is to make current surgical principles, techniques, and instrumentation accessible to physicians at all levels of experience and practices of all sizes. Dr. Lubeck completed his medical training at Northwestern University and then his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, Chicago, Illinois. A fellowship in corneal surgery was served at Flinders Medical Center, Adelaide, Australia.

Dr. Lubeck will continue his work at Arbor Centers for EyeCare while acting as CMO, undertaking a number of initiatives both in the U.S. and internationally.
