Eric Botts, OD.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Energeyes Association board of directors has announced the election of their new 2015/2016 executive team. This is the first change in leadership for this young and growing association, according to the organization.

Eric Botts, OD, of Macomb, Ill., currently treasurer of the association, will assume the role of president on Sept. 1 replacing Mark Uhler, OD, who will stay on in the role of immediate past president for one year. Dr. Botts was a founding board of member of the association and is responsible for significant coding and billing education for members.

Jennifer Geertz, OD, of Chicago, Ill., who is also a founding board member and has served in the capacity of board secretary, will assume her new role as treasurer, also on Sept. 1.

Naheed Ahmad, OD, of Atlanta, Ga., also a founding board member, will be new to the executive committee and will serve for two years in the capacity of board secretary.

The membership of Energeyes elects its board members, and the executive or leadership committee is elected by sitting board members. “While I am very sad to be leaving the role of president, I don’t think we could have selected a more capable executive committee to lead the association in the next two years,” said outgoing association president Uhler. “This has been a fantastic career and personal experience for me and I am looking forward to where this team can take us.”

Botts said, “Dr. Uhler has made a very challenging role look effortless. These will be big shoes to fill and I am excited about the opportunity to keep the Energeyes engine moving in the right direction over the next two years. The new team will have an agenda of continuing to grow the membership and expand our mission of helping practices move to a more medically-oriented service delivery.”

The new executive committee will serve for two years in this capacity. The association now numbers over 500 members and represents optometrists practicing in Pearle Vision, LensCrafters, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco, BJ’s, Sears and Target.
